i think hillman curtis is a bit too arrogant for me. i tried reading through his book... but just got too bored with all the cliché crap and put it down.

I really like it. He has very thoughtful design process. His book is very inspiring and shouldn't be missing in your library.
Hillman is my design hero

smart guy - can't write for shit...I got an arrogance vibe too...but I bet he's the nicest guy when you get talking to him - maybe just the way he comes off written...
Zeldman's new book on the other hand - brilliant - technical - but personal and human-like - the best book on designing for web I have ever read....

yeah well i think his stuff is really great. maybe it's just his writing that i don't like... :)

woooof - that post made me sound like a total ass - I would recommend this book - don't get me wrong - the man is a design god and I admire his work and thoughts on design - I jsut found this particular book a little stodgy and uninspiring....

Yeah Jevad, himself said that this book is very personal and may not be as interesting as people think it is. But when you read carefully its pretty instructive. For sure it help me forging my own creation process.
Personaly I think its a real nice book.
Jevad what the name of the book from Zeldman you were talking about?

Iam wondering if Hillman Curtis inc make the redesign of Adobe.com ?? They have made the last version before the new.
Anyway I know many people in this forum didnt like the new Adobe.com but I would say personaly I really like it. The workflow is pure pleasure, the colors are cool, emphasis are on the products colors. Loading as fast as a F1 car. Clean, not too corpo'. I like it! Nice job.

Hillman is good because he makes you think more about your work. And thats the problem most designers dont think before they design
- benfal990
Iam with you on that one qburt

I ended up sitting across from him at dinner once a few months ago after a talk he gave in Philadelphia-- a quiet, unassuming guy, self-deprecating, even, without a hint of arrogance

I enjoyed the book.
He gave great real-life experience about lessons learned dealing with clients that I found very helpful.
I didn't really get the arrogance vibe at all, I guess any time someone writes a book about themselves it is assumed that there is some level of arrogance but I think Hillman was just passing on some knowledge.

You know...I'm going to read the book again this week...too many people are saying how great it is for me to have read it properly!!
