Hi.
Im working on a site for a music&entertainment company. This site contains lots of mp3's.
Now the client wants the user to be able to click on a song (mp3) and listen to it, instead of rightclicking and download it first.
Is it possible to set so the songs (mp3's) always opens up in mediaplayer or winamp or something like that.
Hmm, hope I made myself clear.
Thanx

go to
http://www.friendsofed.com/books…and download the David Doull source files, it contains a flash based mp3-jukebox. maybe you can copy his script.

yes.
you need to creat a m3u file for each mp3 file you have.
open notepad. type the absolute url of the mp3 file - starting with http...
save this text file with a .m3u extension.
then in the html, link to the .m3u file instead of the mp3 file.
(m3u file is just a playlist file which will automatically the users mp3 player of choice)
see here for example:

Don't do it if you don't want people to download the mp3 file, it's too easy to go into the m3u and extract the url, although most people wouldn't think of that.

nice, Style, nice..

it's not about preventing download - it's about being able to stream the mp3 like you would a real audio file. This way the mp3 starts playing as soon as a small part is buffered.

I know, just a warning that it's not a secure way of serving the files in case anyone thought it was. I'll shut up now.

if you did it in flash that would be a good way of hiding the url.

i getcha.
yea, flash must be the only way to do that.
