I'd give 'em a call first.
Better to be safe than sorry.

If it is purely as reference I would say you're safe. If it even borders on promotional, find out first. Every site like those has legal terms and rights and usually contact info.

well... i work for a kiosk company and i do the interfaces.. most of our clients don't know much about user interfaces.. but they know the big names like Adobe, Macromedia.. etc..
so i'm thinking of just using them as reference to the tools we use to design the interfaces..
i think i'm pretty safe..

depends on whom is giving it out, I know Macromedia asks you to send them some form or fill something in on their page

go to the Microsoft website. They have a section where you can download logos and also has usage information that you will need to adhere to...Adobe has a similar page.

I know Macromedia has certain restriction you must follow. Like colors, size, ect.. They also provide files to download that you must use.

I wanted to put a "made with macromedia" logo on my portfolio cd-rom.
