*long post. sorry*
getting paid from client tomorrow. bout to finally make that move and purchase a mac.
few things i don't know and would like to:
1. modularity. can it be upgraded. like can i swap out processors and shit? like i am running an amd xp1800 in my pc. the mb supports up to a 2200. can you do this in macs?
2. speed. how fast can they get? like, i see g4's with somewhat decent specs (not the greatest) but ram is like 256. can this be bumped to a gig ddr?
3. chrome or no chrome? i like the ones with a chrome windoe and those 4 ovals in front. but i do like the silver ones just before it too. which is better? if i get older G4 can i make it rockin' with a few upgrades?
4. software. i am a Q3 freak (mooshu is my alias online, catch me on computerjobs, illiads, and m.a.a servers) does quake run well on macs? what about the extra utilities for quake?
lastly,
5. price. where can i find good deals. i have been to http://www.macofalltrades.com and http://www.macwarehouse.com. anymore out there?
final, final question. :)
6. powerbook or not to powerbook? i already have a dope desktop. laptop next? Ti worth it?THIS IS NOT TO BE DEBATED! mac vs. pc shit is so through. who cares anymore. love your machine and have fun with it. try showing the world a gentler side of our community rather than the fighting amongst the ranks. we make ourselves look bad.
anyway, thanks fellow friends. all advise appreciated.

Hey, I'm not about to read all you wrote, however...
I am selling my beautiful G4 Cube & 15" flat-screen monitor, & of course all the accessories. Interested?

i know on a lot of the older G3 laptops you can swap them for G4 processors... not of much help, but. good luck.

i personally don't want to spend more than 2g's.
if i can keep it under that, its all gravy baby!
i know i can build a new pc box for that. but shit, i have one. time for something new.
can i get a laptop for that price?

honda
1. yes. you can swap processors and cards as you know it from pcs.
2. new macs are annound for the end of 2003. maybe. dual 2-3 Ghz.
3. i suggest you to wait until the end of 2003 to get the best G5 mac for your money. actually i would not buy an G4 one if you want the maximum of speed - even if you can upgrade 'em. more tech infos: http://www.apple.com/powermac/pd…
4. i don't know much about quake on macs, but they sure do in here: http://www.quake3world.com/cgi-b…
5. i can't tell you much about prices. it'll be best if you connect your local apple nerds to get this info.
6. thei TIs are great. i am not sure if they satisfy your needs. i suggest to ckeck it out in a store and ask the sales-nerd hard.
just contact me if you have more questions
