I am a mac guy that inherited a very old PC from my sister. Here's what I want to do...
There are two hard drives, but it looks like they were partitioned. I want to boot up off the windows cd I have, format both drives (and undo the partitions) so they are totally clean. I then want to install windows on top of it. Sounds easy, and it is on a mac, but I am a windows idiot. The last time I used a pc on a regular basis it was all in dos. I'm fairly comfortable with code so let me know how to go about this. Thanks guys!!

fdisk is your friend...
it's a hard drive formatting and partitioning tool, which should come standard with Windows Boot-Up disks made via the Add/Remove Programs control panel.

Thanks for the compliments! Do you think I should have larger pictures of the prints as well as the smaller ones?

is there a way to boot up off of a cd on a pc?

yeah, but it depends on the pc hardware... ie you need to look into the BIOS setups. something should show up during the memory test that tells you what key to press to get into setup...that's BIOS setup.
yeah I know. viva apple.

you should try to start up from a floppy instead of the CD. a helpful site I remember using was http://www.bootdisk.com
if you absolutely have to start up from the CD you can hit F8 when starting up and go through the menu options and find boot from CD or something l;ike that... it's a pain in the arse.

partition magic from http://www.powerquest.com/ is also quite sweet. It allows you to almost anything to your drives in a simple QUI way.
