So I get into work this morning, switch the g4 on. and .. oh shit... I got the the flashing OS Icon/ Question mark. I try restarting the thing with the cd. and OH shit!.. cannot read hardrive do you want to initialize it? Not the fuck before I call mac support.
So give em call and its.
" top of the morning to ya from Mac Uk ( which is infact based in southern Ireland). The support runs through the ussual, and comes to the conclusion that my hardrive is fucked and ive lost everything.. everything being 8 months of work that wasent backed up. The only other option is to call a data retrieve company and they might be able to save the work.
So anyway I have this 3rd party software called tech tools deluxe, I start up the comp and look at the driver setup, and instead of recognizing the blank hardrive, it tells me the file structure is corrupt and do I want to rebuild it? Hell yes, I give it a go, 4 hours later I have the whole hardrive restored as it was yesterday, thank fuck there are guys like me! Macs support really does suck, the dude could of told me about third party software that could restore the hardrive but mac being mac they aint aloud to do that says uncle sam. It could have cost me a frigen fortune and a job( well the job sucks but anyway) I beleive Ive saved my own ass.

good shit man... a simialr thing happened to me at work before... i was booting up in OS9 on this G4 and when i tried it gave me the question mark system folder, i didn't really freak out too much cause i've dealt with it... but then it never booted up into 9. SO then i restarted and TRIED to boot into OSX but it wasn't going... so then i booted off an OS9 disc and it said the same tihgn about the HD as yours did... "cannot recognize the main HD do you want to initialize it" it didn't really matter cause we where gonna wipe it and all the shit was backed up... but it just freaked me out cause all i tried to do was to boot into 9 and i was concerned for my computer at home and what freak shit like that may happen to it... but that's awsome that tech tool worked on it! CONGRATS!!!
