IE Problems

This may not be the place for this, but I've got no one else to turn to :-(
IE is taking about 10 minutes to open each page (at it will eventually do it). That's a problem, obviously. Netscape takes 10 minutes to start, but when it does it works as it should (I am on a cable line).
I've tried cleaning off temp files, I installed the newest (IE 6, it was IE 5.5), restarting over and over, etc. Nothing else is running.
Any clues? Or any clues where to ask? I've had problems with IE just stopping to work correctly before (view source stopped working for about 6 months, then started again) and it just fixed itself (on another computer).
Thanks.

get rid of windows is my suggestion

Heh.
I've never had any problems with Windows. Only with IE, but because MS is such a monopolistic bully, you have to reinstall Windows to have a clean reinstall of IE, just because they purposely 'integrate' them.
I will look at that new G5. It's got potential, just that Max doesn't run on it and that's what I need it for. Rumors are floating around, though.

yeah.. thats the problem, i work on a pc at work, and when IE started acting up i eventually had to just backup my drive and reformat that puppy. it's so integrated to the OS in the end thats all you can really do i think.

IE sucks on macs too... i am on 9.2 and & my IE works like crap... i miss my PC while at work,
IE will no longer be developed for Macs anyway.

Can you transfer your favorites to Safari (or NS, for that matter)? I"ve got about 10,000 all categorized...
I was hoping to avoid doing a reformat job. I'm in the middle of a crazy project, lotsa rendering, so I surf while it's rendering. Now I'll be lost and not get enough done (like some here!). Shit.

haven't tried to transfer bookmarks in safari yet, but i do know that you can do it in NS. I just really go into using Safari this weekend, it's better than netscape for mac.. and a shit load of a lot better than IE for mac.

backup, reformat and reinstall...
and don't install every little shareware app you find in every nook and cranny of the interweb. those are almost always the culprit of strange windows activity.

my internet explorer has been broken for a week now.. it sucks and Ive moved over to mozilla.. Im on xp and was using IE6. every time I'd hover over something on a page.. like hover links.. my cpu utilisation would jump up to 70-90% ...
flash slowed to a crawl as well.. its the craziest problem I've had on IE ever.. if you fix yours let us know!

huh, that's pretty weird. I love my Norton, but I always wonder what slips by.
The problem I had with the page source not working turned out to be failry common (according to Dell). Reinstall of windows was the only reliable solution they knew of.
Looks to be the case here, too.
But, the page source miraculously reappeared and continued to work a few weeks later. I did nothing.
For now, I am stuck with Netscape. Always in the middle of a big project...
If I learn of a solution, I'll let you know.
