First of all: is your Monitor calibratedand profiled.
It should be if you are the one doing the RGB to CMYK converstion.

run into a problem before. mightve been a glitch with me. (alos happens with .ai files sometimes when they arent already converted.
i saved as a tif and then reopened and converted. it worked fine, but like i said, that mightve just been a glitch. ive never had it happen since.

What type of file are you converting?
What are you converting them for?
(i know for print, but who is printing them and is it for major distribution?)If you are coverting images and this is happening, you have to do something with your settings.
If you are creating graphics in rgb and are trying to get black, use the grayscale slider instead of mixing rgb. Just use black.
If you still have problems after that, it might just be your monitor settings. Are you having these issues when you do a test print of that file?
Hope that helped...

hey guys.. thanks for the replies. actually.. i created the graphics in photoshop 6 and the greys show up kinda purple when i convert them from rgb to cmyk. but when we open the files on a different box in photoshop 7 the greys show up green which is even weirder. i thought it's probably just the difference in color profile settings between 6 and 7, but they look fine after converting them into tif files. thanks again.
