I've created a file with rich black (cmyk) and everytime I close the file and then re-open my back is converted to 100% black. what the hell?
Anyone have any clues? WhattamIdoinwrong?

sorry monkeyshine, i have no idea. maybe create a swatch that is rich black (assuming you haven't already). what version of illustrator?

If you make the rich black swatch & use it, you shouldn't be having this problem. It won't convert your swatches unless you change color mode.
And if it does, well then...
You just plain suck.

oh no...its worse than I thought. not only can I not get my rich black back but I just plain suck too! :(
I created a swatch and its 100% black now too. Today is my Friday and if I can just make it through the day I'm going to drink soooo much tequila.

you want a rich black or you want a pure non-process black?
when you say a "rich" blakc, i think that you want a warm black... like with red and yellow undertones.

by rich black I mean a CMYK process black as opposed to 100% black or a spot black. Ive got the combination I want I just can't get Illustrator 10 to honor it!!

why dont you make a nice CMYK black in PS and use a tiff?
or "fuck-it in the bucket" and get a new computer!

Brooke...that was uncalled for. You should really watch yourself. And I seen your vector art...and it's amature at best!
Just being A idiot. : )
