who here uses the image search feature on a regular basis..
i for one could not live without it. I meet a person from google last night and she had no idea that most designers use that feature daily
...well do you?

Tell her to check out the _RandomizeMe thread!

those images are copyrighted y'know..
:|
not that i care... but some business here sometimes snatches away jobs for being cheap, and this bloke sees Google as a royalty free stock source.. :/

ok, well i told her so, and she seemed very interested. so you know who to blame when you see designer targeted ads in there from now on.... she works in the advertising side of google
:/
whoops!
sorry folks

what do you use it for in terms of client work?
- sexypixel0
well yesterday i did a banner for audi and searched for the car in particular and got some good shots
- sauerbraten0
yes. research purposes
- Gorbie0
You know this entire site is just a market research center anyway!

sexy - what about copyright?
don't get me wrong I use it all the time for many reasons but I've always thought just grabbing images without permission was a big no no for paid work
- ********0
not to mention i saw work of mine stolen a lot (my work i made as a photographer..),
but then again i got my share of empeethrees and so..but still, for paid work i always tell my client they will have to pay for the photographs/fonts/audio and what not....
- sexypixel0
well in that case i knew they were owned by audi and that there would be no copyright problems, but in general i would use goolge for research and getty for comps. We always tell our clients that they wil have to pay for the images if they dont have theyre own... went you tell a client this its amazing how fast the send you their own images that they previously told you didnt exist.
I also use it for funny images and searching for products that i grew up with as a kid, kind of a walk down memory lane

yes i do
- sexypixel0
yesterday i also used it to search for a PDA as i had to show a client an add banner impimented on a PDA screen.. very handy for that kinda thing
- AD0
oh no doubt - even for personal design projects and messing around

for bargains

well...
when's the last time anyone heard of someone being busted for using upaid for imagery on the web?in print it's a bit different.
but oneline the big stock houses don't seem to give a shizzle.now the ethics of it, well, that's another matter completely.

No but I wish they had an audio search, they list them but I don't think they have anything else.
