I sent a file to print in Illy. Only half of it printed and what *did* print had this message going across it:
An error occurred while processing this page.
Error: rangecheck
Command: readstring
Stack:Anyone know what this rubbish is all about?

Please and thank you

not sure what that message is about, chickadee.
if it is just a quick fix that you need, you can always convert the thing to a bitmap and print.. . . unless that fucks up too. in which case, more drastic measures are required. (ie. export/import, converting colors to all cmyk, etc etc.)

the original doc was an InDesign file, but the printers in China apparently don't have InDesign and want it in Illy. So i made an eps of the InDesign file. I'm trying a few more things in hopes that i don't have to totally recreate it in Illy.
Thanks Bio

What kinda system you on? Mac/PC OS?
It sounds like maybe illy is having trouble printing the eps, maybe cause of its size?
Also, try placing the eps back in InDesign and printing from there. I never print anything from illustrator. It always fucks up.

hmm... hard to help more without seeing exactly what bees the problem. also i dunno much about indesign, but if you need a helping hand, you know how to reach me. i am always happy to open files and convert shit if you dont mind it being sent back to you a little sticky. =p

i'm with gorbie on this, printing to a dpm out of ill is nothing but trouble ... what i do if the printer can't take my ID file is export as eps, rasterize in PS and drop it in quark or something, but never illy...

The eps is probably fine.
I bet it's illy that is having a problem.
Do you just need to print a proof?

try giving more memory to your printer

Thank you my dearies. However, my production manager just gave me great news!
"Just redo the whole thing in Illustrator."

If you're on os9, give the "desktop print monitor" more memory. This helps a lot!
also try giving the app more memory, if you're using a rip, give that more memory too.

well if you don't have to edit anything, i think you can just copy and paste most of the elements over... it's a little sloppy, but it'll work
