i don't mind one or two on a site.

People are precious about the control of their windows... and it also detracts your attention from one window to another.

i'm not sure i understand the question... are you asking why these unwanted advertisements that create a new window, blocking your view, taking up processor cycles (more so now with flash ads), and that make you have to close them to continue what you were doing are annoying?

a lot of people immediately close pop-ups cause they think it were banner ads.
well some people maybe do.

ooh you're not talking about ads.
nevermind, then :) as long as your link tells me it's a popup, i'm all for it.

not really vena..... i hate those pop ups as well. are just like little annoying demons. i talk about controlled pop ups, with content related to the website the user is consulting.
if a person click a button and then a pop ups is opening, where is the problem?

and yeah, no popups onLoad. that's annoying.

mmmhhh....... i think at last is just a question of subjectivity. up to everyone, perhaps

definitely, though i think designers are a lot more forgiving of pop-up windows. i like to be told the link is going to pop up so i can turn off my filter proxy.

I love those popups that look like a windows error "your system is open to infection"
ah those jokers, they get me every time.
