Anyone know why my body tag scrollbar styles wont work unless I comment out the xhtml doctype?

This is lame. I took the doc type out of a few pages to test it.
1) The body scrollbar style is working in the main page and iframe.
2) the iframe lost the stupid horizontal scrollbar that was there for no reason.

cool CX, thanks!
I was having the same issue with the horizontal scrollbar in ie 6.0.
Are there any consequences to not having the doc tag in there?

you are not using the correct doctype with the code.
which xhtml type are you using?

My doc type on my page was:
here's a link to the page i'm using it on:

damn, fogot you can't paste code in here.
Anyway, it's the page within the iframe on that link.
Thanks

If I paste the doctype in this forum it doesnt work but
first I just had the standard:
DOCTYPE html, etc (its transitional BTW)But then I put ?xml version =, etc at the top and html xmlns=, etc below it and everything works. In Dreamweaver MX if you go to command-clean up xhtml it will add it on for you.

I couldnt figure out for anything why that damn horizontal scrollbar was there no matter how narrow I made the page in the iframe.

About bodytag scrollbar styles - they're a MS extension to CSS, not legit.
"XHTML and CSS scrollbar color"

here is your site run through the html validator...it's not well formed markup...which is one reason why it doesn't work properlly.

A List Apart has some good info on XHTML and the doctype declaration: http://www.alistapart.com/storie…
Note that a view source here, as well as many other sites shows no doctype.
