it seems as though, these days, almost all mass media is content in being a parody of a parody, leaving the viewer completely unable to distinguish fact from fiction, fervor from satire

its a commercial for a culture.
without even touching the question as to WHY exactly any culture should have to market themselves to another through television, its ridiculously demeaning to believe that in 30 seconds one can properly summarize any culture and put a spotlight on everything good about it, while ignoring all the negative.
plus, its seemingly modeled after an instructional video for mcdonalds emplopyees.

did you see the american army commercial?
you don't see dead people nor any bomb dropping in that ad either and it sure looks like a vacation ad

ok, first of all, mcdonalds is not a culture, thats a ridiculous statement, its a global industry. a business. And the army is a branch of a government.
This does not make the lack of truth in their advertising any better, but it does make it more understandable. The army relies entirely on volunteers to fill its ranks (also, its ridiculous to believe that anyone has illusions about possible consequences when enrolling in any military branch)

WTF of course McDo is a culture but since you're from the uncle sam land you wouldn't see it like it is.
What's not to understand when the saudis are advertising their culture? What is the difference between the saudi ad and the army ad (don't spit the obvious)?
I just think you have a probelm with the saudis and you can't stand to imagine them being someting else than terrorists.
