right this might be simple but i dont know how to do it - how does one flatten a layer in photshop that has blending options applied to it? ( ie. inner glow/bevel etc. ) i want to merge a lot of layers with different blending options but retain the indvidual options set on each layer. if i just 'flatten' the layers each layer adds its own blending to the one flattened onto it. this make sense ? any response is appreciated... thanks

not sure if this'll help, but if you create a new layer directly under the blended layer, and then merge the two, then your blending options get flattened into one, normal layer...

I'm not sure if i understand you correctly, but try this:
Layer-> Rasterize-> All layers
or
rasterize each one individually.

What you're trying to do isn't possible to do. The blending options are applied to layers, not individual "objects" withing the layer.
If you want to be able to modify the blending options, don't merge. If you're happy with how they look, and you're sure you won't change it, rasterize and merge.
