branding for an intranet blah blah... rough work at the moment, but I quite like 5...
what do you think?
and yes same font as QBN... so what...

i like 6 and 7
5's nice too but the border is too thick. same for 6.

i like 6 & 8.
i read #7 as "X helix"

I agree that 5 is getting closest to a successful soultion.
Perhaps you could integrate the "double helix" form into the logo, rather than juxtaposing it next to or behind the type. I think this kind of integration would make for a much more definable, consistent, and coherent mark.

doesn't the 'x' in # 5 look like a barbeque with smoke coming out of it?

I smell food not beer.
What does the company do?

its not a company, its branding for an intranet for interactive tv resource place...

I'd choose a different typeface.

#5 is the strongest, but play a little with the colour and the border.

In the end they are going for something like this...
highlighted "i" because its an information resource

Don't use cooper black—the 'X' is horrible. also, the color scheme is a bit dull.

6 is clean ...later when your a moguel..you can just use the spiral

ugh...
look at your letterspacing. and does it have to be those colors? couldn't you do something more conceptual with the letterforms, instead of using that reflection? also, why not a san-serif?
this might spark some ideas:
