holy shit.
i really hate submitting kick ass proposals, with demos and a reasonable estimate only to be outdone by some fucking lowball no talent "designer".
no wonder there's so much shit design in the world.
you get what you pay for.
if these dinks want to make hardly any money why don't they just a get a job at mcdonalds already and let the rest of us EAT.

that's the problem with bids... there's always some jackass who'll out bid you... that's where your salesmanship is at stake.

one time it happened to me and I was pissed for several reasons, several you mentioned
when they sent me the email saying the were going with some hack for peanuts, i so badly wanted to be rude and fire back a nasty email
i sat on it though - waited a few hours and sent them back a nice email just being professional and wishing them luck etc.
2 months later they called me back saying they wanted me to do the job because the dude they went with "didn't work out"
i said sure and i charged them a little more even - they were happy to pay it
i stored it in the memory banks as some sort of lesson
