POSTING A LINK WOULD HELP.
sorry was i yelling?
[start sarcasm]
oh, i have this table that's not displaying right, how do i fix it?
[end sarcasm]
- plasticheart0
didn't say table asshole. if the scenerio was too diffucult for you to understand without a diagram, maybe you shouldn't have said anything.
- auricom0
WOW, well a little more info would be nice, things like what browsers have you tried it in. is the swf file loaded correctly to your server, so on and so forth.
- auricom0
not sure about MX but i remember reading about converting to tables or something with .swf.
link it up.

there is a problem with displaying flash movies in z-indexed divs, but can't really tell.

Everyones getting confused!
I am doing a giggle with my mouth.
- solargarlic0
glad we could help!

LOL
guess he didn't see the [start sarcasm]
how can ppl help WE can't SEE it FOR OURSELVES?
now chill the fuck out.
- plasticheart0
I tried it in Internet Explorer.
I also tried the direct link to the
swf file alone. It worked fine. Its only when its inside the layer that it doesn't show. It even acts like its loading it then its blank. there is nothing to show and I'm not ready to show the swf alone. there would be no point in that anyway. it shows fine. just the layer problem...

ok, can you give a little snippet of your code for the div then? it's hard to help with your problem if we can't even see it. it could be a million diff. things or something really dumb.
- plasticheart0
I think it is something really dumb. I have done this a million times. It has never done this before. A simple .swf inside a layer and its blank when you save it. I have no idea what has happened. Oh well. Thank you for all your help.

whens the mag coming out?
- plasticheart0
July. The name has been changed. No longer plasticheart. Thats what I'm working on. The flash site for it. But this small problem is becoming a bitch. Also...frames aren't working. A simple 2 frame page with an image in each won't work.
here is a test link(not the actual .swf, but it too has the same problem)

maybe something in your swf file is holding it up.
- solargarlic0
are you trying to add the swf in a layer with a z-index greater than 1? Flash movies can't be stacked on top of other layers. it will always just play on the base layer.
- plasticheart0
well it seems to be working now.
did you see anything in that test link?

"dreamweaver stinks. use embed. =)"
That does not make sense.
For one Dreamweaver only writes stupid code if you do stupid things. Dreamweaver makes your life easier by managing sites and allowing upload of those files to a web server. This makes Dreamweaver Not Stupid. Dreamweaver also writes hundreds of lines of ASP or PHP or Coldfusion in seconds. Look if you don't know how to use layers in the first place Dreamweaver is not going to help you. It's all about where you place your layer, what you put in it. how you position it relative or absolutely etc..2 Why do you need a layer to put a flash movie in. Learn about layers if you want to use them but don't just use a layer when you could use a table.
