I heard that if you wear abercrombie and fitch that you automatically listen to the dave matthews band.
I think it is true.

Well, what does Tommy Hillfiger do? His clothes and advertising have that classic American look, yet it seems all ethnic groups wear that stuff (or wear the cheap flea-market knock-offs that are 1/3rd the price) :D

also about abercrombie: their whole marketing model is about getting heat. These guys stir up controversy every chance they get. if it isn't racial stereotypes, it's putting porn in their catalogs (when their primary demo is teens), or selling thongs for pre-pubescents.
Abercrombie gets heat because they invite it, not because of some stupid perceptual problem some more-righteous-than-thous have perceived around here.

But those catalogs are pretty hot, right?
Seriously, I hate this total erosion of innocence that teens have now. It's sick the stuff that's marketed to them.

makes no difference who your demographic is, who the target audience is.
Making decisions about HR based on race, creed, religion, etc... (for any motivation) is deemed unconstitutional in our country for a reason.

candadian if only i could reach throughthe screen and slap some goddamn sense into you.
i never in any way said i think its right or fair for anyone to cater to any one race and leave out all the others.
you fucking dipshit. i wish you would stop being so thick headed and stop talking out of your ass.

Maybe they should just give up and target the closet-racist white market. Instead of trying to be all subtle, you know?
They'd probably make a killing!

F_EddyShears and kpl are so right.

hmm i don't think that anyone in this entire thread thought that their hiring practicies were justified. HR has nothing to do with how the product is marketed. i don't think anyone is arguing that it's not a cool thing to do by hiring predominately one way or the other... my main point was the catalouge having predominately young white models shouldn't be included with all that other stuff, it's the one thing in that whole blurb that made no sense.

Ironically, on "Marketplace" today (KCRW online or NPR anywhere, KCRW streams well through itunes) there is going to be a program about employees of stores that represent the brand and "look the part"
Will be worth listening to

I was looking for a good version of that image so I can screenprint a bootleg of those shirts.
Is it bootleg if they pulled it from the shelves?
