even tho its centered around old school hip hop...you should include that new one..
can't remember who does it..
but you probably know who i mean..
the one that goes..
'i know i can (i know i can)
be what i want to be (be what i want to be)
if i work hard at it (if i work hard at it)
i'll be where i want to be (be where i want to be)can't remember who sings it, but it's one of the most uplifting hip hop songs i've ever heard...every kid should hear it..it's totally written for them..
it's all over the video channels..
great track

Mal...do you sit at work with one pant leg up,a bandana, and a big ass clock around your neck rocking the bling bling and the phat gold fronts?

what about some Public Enemy. Fight the Power, positive in a using music for a political message way.

Not a single mention of the most influential and positive black groups of all time.
Public Enemy:
Yo! Bum Rush the Show. (You pick the album is insane.)It Takes A Nation Of Millions To Hold Us Back (The Best ALBUM EVER)
Fear of A Black Planet (The 2nd Best ALBUM EVER... a real close second)
*Fight the Power is my favourite song of all time.
Apocalypse '91
*Shut Em Down
*Can’t Trust It.Another amazing song is *Tennessee, by Arrested Development.
I love that new down south hustler music but my roots are always going to be from the PUBLIC ENEMY ERA.
Also check for LONS
*Sobb Story
*Feminine Fatt
*Case of the P.T.A.I got so much more the memories are insane.

hehe. its funny you should mention that.
"I Can" by Nas is their official graduation song. That's kinda what made me want to put together this stuff, wanted them to get more positive messages like that one.
Anyways, you guys are good. I might have to make this a 3CD, heh/.

What about ::
Pharcyde "Soul Flower"
UMCs "One To Grow On"
Digital Undergorund "Humpty Dance", "No Nose Job" RMX
Digable Planets - "Dial 7"
Nice & Smooth - "Hip Hop Junkies"
De La Soul - "My Brothers A Basehead"
All pretty uptempo tracks and most have virtually no swearing either, so it's nice for the kiddies haha.

Hey Young World, by slick rick.
That one would fit right in.
- spncr0

probably include:
de la soul
kool keith
digital underground
tribe called quest

You could get some Whoudini, EPMD or Educated Rapper type stuff. Corny, yes, but they pushed Hip-Hop when 2-Pac, Puffy and Eminem were in diapers.
- imprint0
Souls of Mischeif-93 til infinity
Tribe called quest
The Roots
Run DMc is foundational old school

K.M.D. Mr Hood album introduced the 5% nation in a really interesting friendly way...one of the greatest produced hip albums ever. I think a lot of people missed the point about what kind of hip hop albums you were looking for by naming groups like Pharcyde and such...I like em but they arent in the same class as a Public Enemy or X Clan.
