anyone ever used "server-side include" (in Dreamweaver)?
i really want to know: what has to be in the included file - do i only have to remove the head of the html source?
- rebooted0
just put in the .asp or html code you require with no head, body tags

so: no head and no body tags in the included .asp file.
thank you, rebooted.and if you know some good articles about this topic - please post them!

you can put the body tags in there if you want. you can put anything in there you want to, even connection strings or dsn's.
what dictates what you put in there has to do with where in your page you are including the file. when the server parses the page, it just 'replaces' the include for the code found inside, so if you were inclinded to do you, you could have a full html page in your include file and have it called from a page with only the #include line itself.
or did i just confuse you more?

yeah, 4guys is great link

it was a bit confusing, mitsu - because i discovered the server-side include in DW today...

php include does the dame thing, only with a bit more versatility.
ssi is very usefull for large scale sites (10,000 pages or more)...and dynamic sites, in which you are generating a lot of content from a database and cms.
they are your friend.
as for the 4 guys. rolla is not too far away from me....here in missouri. good school...lots of damn smart people come out of that uni.
