use a PMS silver. and then there are lots of different print techniques that affect the quality, ie. dry tap printing, over-printing, etc...

The Pantone color Matching System. this is the standard for printing color. you can't mix an accurate silver in a 4-color process, so you need whats called a "spot" color. the way to choose and match a "spot" color is to use a PMS color. you will note that Adobe products have them available in the swatch libraries, for usage (these are not accurate to the screen, you need a PMS book of color chips to see the color and choose it).
Talk to your printer, they can probably help explain.

in refernece to stewardes' example, mind you, thats just an example... there are many silver spot colors in the PMS system, and different ones for different applications, ie. uncoated, coated, matte.
