Win XP / Messenger Service

I recently got a PC and I keep getting these annoying pop-ups in my operating system that are advertising crap, each one has a title of Messenger Service. Does anyone know how to get rid o them?

ah, found it myself. incase you have the same problem:
Open the Start menu, right-click on My Network Places, and choose Properties.
Right-click on the connection you want to protect and choose Properties.
Click the Advanced tab and click in the little box in the Internet Connection Firewall section.

no , the real way to disable messenger Services is :
Windows XP
1. Click Start -> Control Panel
2. Click Performance and Maintenance
3. Click Administrative Tools
4. Double click Services
5. Scroll down and highlight "Messenger"
6. Right-click the highlighted line and choose Properties.
7. Click the STOP button.
8. Select Disable or Manual in the Startup Type scroll bar
9. Click OKi found it on google when i got my new computer i had the same problem , i did a search for "messenger services disable " in google :)
