I just upgraded to OSX 10.2 and for some reason it automatically logs-out when I turn the volume up or down or if I Select about this Mac.

posting twice without trying... Is that actually possible?

Yup I can't find anything if I press any of the function keys: volume mute or eject I get logged out automatically.
VERY frustrating!

update to 10.2.6...

good point... if you arent on at least 10.2.4 then upgrade before you do anything else...

yeah I did that but no help.
I disabled all applications. but still not working. Then I created a new user and that works fine. So it looks like I will just get a new identity and dump all my files across.

Have you tried calling Apple tech support? (I can really recommend buying AppleCare..it pays for itself!)

I've got everything running back to normal again, I have no clue what it is that did it though. I could only find one other similar occurance at Mac Fix and nobody could work out what had caused it then either.
It took about two hours creating a new user and copying everything around then getting rid of the old one.
The only suspect I have is Suitcase which was set to launch on log-in and I have updated to the jaguar version this morning.
Apart from all that Jaguar looks fantastic. Thanks for your help guys!

I have never heard of such a problem before... strange. Personally I am sick and tired of suitcase and its bugs. I had mine load at start up too but it took forever to load slowing down my machine for like 20 to 30 minutes. Opening a folder gave me a spinning beachball. Plus it keeps making copies of itself in the start up items menu, the last time I checked before I disabled it there were 19 copies scheduled to start up. I sent an email to their tech support and they suggested making less fonts active, and simply deleting copies daily... well then what the fuck is the importance of the application!!!
