I have to set up an appointment to meet with a potential client I'm going to do a freeleance website for.
I don't have an office at home. What are some options? Where should I suggest we meet? What is appropriate?
PS. First freelance meeting :)

my first freelance meeting was in Books-a-Million.
my second, third and fourth were in a bar.
as a matter of fact, i have a meeting with a bigtime cat in a bar on the 25th. gonna have some drinks and talk business.
i like meeting in bars.

i think that a coffee shop is fine.
also a restaurant or a bar (depending on client)church folks dont like meeting in bars. not like i give a flyin fuck though. i wont work for someone who wont go to a bar. (unless they're gonna pay well)

you should always offer to go to the client's place. It's courteous, and you can spy on the situation. see if the client has cash, etc...

i always opt to go to the clients place first. Then if not, I suggest a bar or coffee house. Last resort is a restaurant or library. I hate restaurants because I like to bring out my laptop and on a table at a restaurant their always ends up not being that much elbow room and I don't like libraries because you have to be quiet. Remember that half of every meeting is really about selling yourself so pick somewhere that feels comfortable to both of you, otherwise you might risk a prospering relationship.

you gotta be a lil suspicious if the client doesn't want to meet at their place of business... like they might be broke just like your broker than broke ass.

the nudey bar is prime... get them drinks and some lap dances and you can take over.

hooters, or pretty much any place where the eye candy is good. helps break the ice. this works especially well if the client is a woman.
