in july I'm going to marseille. has anyone suggestions (bars/clubs etc)?

you should certainly head for Le Spartacus, i've a few wild nights in there, and the Le New Cancan, however, the old cancan was arguably better, or even try Boys Paradise. ACE!

My french experience covers Nice -> Italy, but I've been to IKEA in Marseille. Not that it matters though..

marseille is great. very young and crazy town..
careful at night in some plcaes, particulary if you don't speak french.. in some places don't expect to be received like a friend.. if you see nice lovely french looking girls and think : yyess , they are single : think twice ... you may end up your face in the wall somewhere.. ;)
it's always been like that there ..
marseille is full of contrasts ! it's a beautiful place. YOu'll find clubs and bars just by walking in the center
i live not too far from marseille : montpellier , it's smaller but very young and international town, and the atmosphere is a bit more relaxed

stoopid question, marseille is the doors of mediterraen sea, if you can cruise ariound marseille and go to Cassis, have a great time in the calanque wuv your girl, Fada!

Yes, nice little beach between rocks, loads of fish restaurants.. good atmosphere.
