it was originally a japanese
movie that has been ripped
ala The Ring (ringu) style.there's hollywood for you: grab a crazy japanese cult film that no one knows about, hire fancy actors and add some zippy effects and then try to push it as an orignal hollywood blockbuster.

77 - Many people (critics and viewers alike) felt the American remake of The Ring was a rare case of the remake being better. I kind of agree. I prefer the The Ring over Ringu, but only slightly.

I don't remember them ever trying to push this as an original. It was common knowledge from the beginning that it was based on a Japanese movie. As a matter of fact, the DVD of The Ring has a trailer on it for Ringu.
