these things look nice for traveling with.. are they durable enough to be backpacked on a regular basis? anyone have any bad crushed ibook stories?

They're great for durabilty, i take mine everywhere but make sure you get a skin to cover the ibook just to avoid scuffs and stuff. You can buy a skin at the Apple store .

after more than two years of everyday use my ibook has the following problems:
covers got sratches on it.
one of the keys is missing.
the battery is completely daed.
the screen connection is loose.
the cd rom doesnt work all the time.so moral of the story is: get apple care!
