He had more than 4000$ in a paypal account!
But now his parents are pursuing legal action against the people who put the video in the internet. Many people asked for refounds and he has now $3,475.He was my hero, but not anymore. :(

I think guys who set up the whole fundraising and paypal stuff are shady. of course i don't know them personally, but it seems pretty crappy.
also, anyone who donated to some random guys who have no relation to the fat kid had to be pretty dumb, they shouldn't get their refund back for being idiots :P

The guys who set up the paypal account *are* buying the kid a 30gb ipod and the rest of the money will be spent in a gift certificate.
I actually found that this fundraising story for the funny kid was very sweet. Too bad he (or his parents) spoiled it.

I'm amazed no marketing department has capitalised on the popularity of this clip. Everybody I know has seen it - throw some Nikes on him and he'd sell a million pairs. Plus he'd become the coolest kid in his school, making the company that picked him up look like hero's with huge hearts.

The Star Wars Kid in Episode 3?Chris Knight sends in news of some late night Star Wars Kid action in Hyperspace:
Late last night, those of us watching the E3 webcam saw the makeup dept. putting touches on various Wookiee masks, including Chewbacca's. Then the camera showed us that the crew there was watching the infamous "Star Wars Kid" video. Then at 14:16:40 (on 6/3) the lady we'd been watching for most of the night turned to face the camera and held up a piece of paper. Written on it in black magic marker was this: We Love Ghyslain. You Rock!! Jedi Kid.
She held it up long enough for the camera to snap a few frames. At 14:17:20 she held up another piece of paper, this time reading:
Ghyslain 4 Episode 3.? C'est possible, non?
