best suggestion for a cheap backpackable method to use to store the photos from my digital camera?
normally a big media card would do the trick, but i'll be abroad for several months. i'll probably never be far from a computer.

buy a domain and ftp them, then make a site about your trip. just an idea, may not be very practical.

your best bet would be to carry a laptop with you, get an older one with a decent HD .. it can't be all that expensive? It might be quite heavy though..

yeah i'd rather not lug a laptop around... seems a bit out of my pricepoint too because if i do bring one i'd want a light one (and most secondhand ones are pretty heavy)

buy a few 256mb cards, find internet cafes where you can burn CD's every few weeks... burn two, mail one home, keep one

oh, and you'll need a cheap USB card reader to plug in and download at the internet cafes...

Alternatively, take along some blank CDs. You could burn them to the cd and not have to worry about ftp-ing them to your server. Great if the connection is 56k. And it might cost less than the connection time at an internet cafe.
