Does anyone have a good list of questions that you ask before taking on a client's project?

off the top of my head (too tired to fire up the other workstation with my client "pack" on it...)
1. Why do you think you need a site?
Cue philosophical argument here: why do you need a site vs why do you THINK you need a site...
2. How does a site fit into your business/action plan? How do you anticipate that it will imapct on your existing processes?
i.e. have you actually given this project any thought?
3. Who are yr main competitors?
- OR - Who are the leaders in your field/area/niche?4. What's yr target audience?
5. Level of usage/understanding of the web. (I'll leave it to you to figure the exact wording)
i.e. When I build a spanky new site with a spanky CMS, is the client actually going to use it? Or are is he/she going to curl up and purr in front of the fire, safe in the knowledge that somewhere out there exists a website with their brand on it...?
6. For clarity - who are the major stakeholders?
i.e. who do I answer to? Who has the final say?
I'm sure there's loads more...

Thanks for those questions. I don't freelance much, so I always seem to forget to ask the good questions. I need to make a client pack!
