states that "The number of graphic designers in the US has grown tenfold in a genration, to an estimated 150,000."
Seems to me that there are a hell of a lot more than that.

That number would be higher but cos' so many copy 2ad they only count as one.

lol

They probably asked, as a polling question, "Do you know what Photoshop is?" and that automatically ranked someone as a designer. So numbers should be much higher.

i quess that's good news, right?
RIGHT?!
- exador0
hmmmm...
hopefully...
but the article seems kind of vague...don't ya think?
sure they go on about how great it is, that everyone is looking for the more creative style jobs...
right?
but what they don't mention is that it was skilled labour that for a large part, fleshed out the middle class..mostly out of stability...
and if there's one thing for certain, that we ALLLLLL can agree on, as much fun as this design thing can be..it's ANYTHING but stable...
so ya.....
we all can go after creative and fulfulling careers now...
but where as the plumber can look forward to continuous employment for the next 40 odd years..
we can't...

Does anyone know where to find that cartoon with the 2 guys on a park bench... one explaining to the younger guy "Those are graphic designers..note the polo neck and latte" etc

the plumbers make more money than i do too.
