Hi ... I'm going to be going to school in Montreal in September and was wondering how I should go about looking for jobs in the design field.
Is anybody out there in NT land looking for a good, solid, experienced Intern part-time?
Should I make cold calls and send out my resume? (site in the works)
Should I ask my co-workers now if they know anybody?
Advice and guidance is greatly appreciated ... thanks in advanced. Cheers.

My advice for looking is to seek out those whom you would want to work with. Work that you respect and firms you are interested in.
Take the time to put together something that shows them who you are and what you're capable of, something that seperates you from everyone else that may be contacting them. Just make something that you can send out and not get back, rather than just dropping a portfolio everywhere (since I'm gathering that you don't have a real extensive folio).

I'm working as graphic designer in a socio/ecological group in Montreal right now. We are looking for an intern for summer to help me to redesign our web site. If you are interested and want to know more e-mail me with you CV...

Thanks Eddy .... yeah, I understsand the need to send out something that I won't get back and I'll probably end up doing that sometime soon ... unfortunately I don't have a huge selection of work to pick from (although fortunately I don't have to rely on school art projects nearly as much anymore) so I'll tailor it to whomever I'm sending it to.
On a slightly different note, I know I can go research this online, but what are some well-rounded design firms in Montreal ... print, web, packing, etc etc
