Ok here goes...
I'm trying to animate (in Flash) letters and numbers that rotate down (or up) like on an old gas pump or cash register.
Any ideas on a way to make this animation look semi-realistic? I've tried a few different ways but they look nasty.
Thanks for any help!

Anyone else catch this crap?

Have you tried just putting a gradient from black to transparent above and below each number looper thingy, (so that wehn the numbers scroll they go up into darkness.
apologises for worst explanation ever, hope they idea got through

That would work great! I also want to give it perspective as it moves. Any suggestions on that? Thanks again!

i imagine if they were flipping fast enough you could just stretch them a little in the centre so that they tweened wider in the middle than at the top and bottom. Because it would be such a small and fast animation i think that slight change coupled with the dissapearance of the numbers/letters behind the shadow would foll the eye into thinking that a chang of distance had taken place. Not sure about that though, may just look wavy
