actually..a good friend of mine grew up with him here in Toronto...
they used to volunteer at a a daycare or something in the afternoons together as teens....i asked him about it a few years ago, right after the first matrix came out..
my friend just smiled and said, 'well....just like you'd imagine, there are moments when you suspect he's not exactly the sharpest knife in the drawer...
but to his credit, i'll say this...
he's probably the nicest guy i've ever known...'true story...
so there ya have it...someone from the old days to confirm it...
not too bright..
but every bit as nice as they say...ex

Yeah, I am almost positive he learned them for the movies. The first one he was to have supposedly flown to Korea or somewhere to study it intensively for a while. I am pretty sure Fishburn knows one, too.
I'll have to see it again, but some of those spinning hook kicks looked like him, and he certainly is flexible enough. I am sure he left anything dangerous to the pros, but why wouldn't he learn it?
As another great piece of trivia, did everyone know he was born in Beirut (Lebanon)?

I have met him a few times. His drummer and best friend is an old friend of mine. Keanu is one of the most down to earth actors i have ever met. He took my son back stage at one of his concerts and made my son feel like the whole show was just for him! I will always think very highly of keanu after that.
