The two things that strike me most that are missing are the sense of motion and the flatness of the windows. Perhaps what you choose to do to correct the latter will also eliminate the former as well. It's a nice piece tho. Coming along nicely.

i agree the windows looks so empty, i'm gonna see what i can do about it.
- Redmond0
Yeah the windows look like they were painted on. The colors are nice.

nothing seems to work, maybe i should put it away for one day and maybe it'll work tomorrow.

NOt a bad idea. A fresh eye is often answer enough to all of your questions. Perhaps a few hours away from it if you are excited about finishing the image. Unless a whole day is cool for you.

little live thing like birds or people may work, becouse the image looks cold.
also what they already said about the windows... and some part are to plain. remeber there is light and light makes some parts look ligher than others; in doesn't matter in the trees but the train need them

hey i have a question ,
usualy when you do these kind of piece , like this one for example , well , how do you start ?
i mean do you take a real train image , and start the basic shapes over it then customize it or ,u simply open an empty illustrator file and just start drawing ?
- dopepope0
Reference always helps. Tracing the reference is one way to go. BUt if your reference is merely a guide to create something from your mind, then use it to get the basic shapes down and just go crazy from there. If it's a straight up vector copy of a train you want, then tracing the image is probably easiest.

The colors are good; nice contrast. And you've definately got a good angle on the train. I suggest you add some reflections to the windows & some texture to the ground. I'm not really sure what kind of a surface the train is supposed to be on.
I'm glad you've followed the rule of thirds, btw. Makes for a much more interesting piece.
- brooke0
I suppose I should've read the previous posts prior to answering. Sorry for the redunancy.
- Louno0
what is the rule of Thirds ?
- Redmond0
Divide your pic in three with the main elements. Like, have the point of interest at around 1/3 or 2/3 of the pic and not right in the middle.
- Louno0
what does using this rule do ? do you do it consciously or unconsciously ?
( ok now im REALLY showing how much of a noob i am :P )
- brooke0
Consciously. Be aware of it. A picture is a thousand times more interesting when the center of focus is off-centered.
- dopepope0
Rules are made to be broken...and when broken, they are used to criticize what's been broken.
I bet a good artist just does it without realizing or thinking about it.
- brooke0
If you do it naturally, you're still using the rule.
- dopepope0
Agreed Brooke. But you don't stress abiding by the rule.
The hulk was a nice touch.
FINISH!
