Rock is about to kill hip-hop the way hip-hop killed Rock years ago. It goes in cycles.
It's up to Mtv and the corporations .... the latest 'bling-bling' artist can't be expected to have integrity.
We're all slaves to this madness.

Yup some hip hop has gotten bad of late. Whoever mentioned Buck 65 was on the money. Truley a talent. Also go check the new King Geedora (MF Doom) LP on Big Dada. Plus the new Tes LP and Jemini The Gifted One's LP is so nice, but I don't know when it's out.

man you have to be crazy, look it's not that easy to just keep creating top of the line cutting edge stuff, not only that these guys get literally millions of US Dollars thrown in their faces along side of other perks. What would you do. Trust me, your primitive greedy-ass human urges would kick in as well. ;)

you dont have to watch mtv or listen to radio ya know
- mrdobolina0
independent radio is where its at. We have a hiphop show here on tuesday nights on a college station and it plays nothing but the dope shit. past present and future. leave mtv and commercial radio to the teenagers and don't get pissed if they don't play what you deem as good hiphop. If you are looking there, then you are getting what you came for.

The industry is controlled by greedy, clueless execs, their audience is 13 year old girls and gay suburban wannabe thugs.

The only thing predictable about hip hop are the people who says it's boring and predictable.
It's a real broad musical spectrum so go look further.

well... it really sucks to like a group and catch them at a nice small venue in your area and a year later they are on mtv and f-n sprite commercials and the next time u see them they are at an arena and tickets are $65
i know groups always sell out but it seems these past years there has been a bucket of them falling off.

prome4eus, you are correct, the shit that everyone hates aint nothing but pop music. remember when people used to listen to heavy metal? and then all these bands like bon jovi and skid row came out and played all of that glam rock shit? it isnt any different than hiphop nowadays.

"The industry is controlled by greedy, clueless execs, their audience is 13 year old girls and gay suburban wannabe thugs. "
Whilst this might be true, it seems like a 'canned' response which (thankfully) lays the blame on someone else, washing our hands of the problem.
We, the punters, put 'em where they are today...we bought their records, went to the concerts ..etc. Shit, some of us are probably responsible for their web sites and music videos (and add to the 'demise of hip hop').
If you think hip hop is dead/dying, revive it or just stay on the 'trend train' to MTVland.
It's actually our call.
Not theirs.
