Mouse or Touchpad?

If you use a laptop.... do you use the built in touch pad/pointer stick or do you just use an external mouse? Why?

I used to have a toshiba with a nipple.. one of those little joystiky things.. still prefer that over the touchpads/mouse!

i like the mouse. my hand cramps up when i use the touchpad for too long.
i was on tour, and had to finish a graphic by the time i got back, and didn't have a mouse.
i had to draw the whole thing on a touch pad.
my hand was hurtin!

how long did that graphic take you using a touch pad?

about 5-6 hours. i think.
i left my mouse at home, but fortunately the drive was long, and i had nothing better to do.

Yea, i use a mouse... but i cant understand why people use the touchpad to design. Most people that i have seen work only on a touch pad seem to have their entire wrist swollen like a grape fruit.

I want to switch to a touch-pad, but there seems to be a bit of a learning curve.
I bought one at CompUSA, tried it out and returned it before my two weeks were up.
I will have to test drive one again.

Im on a Dell 8200..... and they give me both a touch pad AND a stick *a.k.a. THE NIPPLE*
I just dont see why you need them both..... or at all?? They should make it optional to have both
