scuffing effect?

  trying to get a "scuffed" look to a flyer im doing..not so much paint dribbles which seem super popular, but more of a hmm.. roughnessi dont wanna use brushes but can anyone recommend any cool techniques?

  scan something that is scuffed and then adjust levels and make that layer a "multiply" layer in PS.
