cartoon render in Maya

does anyone know how do I use the Maya cartoon render plugin? I am new to Maya and can't find where to apply it when making a render.

I'm not sure what version you are using but Maya5 (just released) has a new super amazing 'vector/cartoon' type of renderer built into the program.
If you are using any version prior to v5 then go to highend3d and do a search in the maya section of the discussion forums. I found a pretty decent one (plugin/shader) there.

cheers James i will have a look. I am using Maya 4.5. it's really annoying, I bought a book to learn when 3.5 was the latest, then Maya 4.5 came out and now as i was making some progress Maya 5 is out... arrgh!

Yeah get the upgrade because Maya 5 is incredible!
You can also convert PaintFX into polys now. This allows you to use them in reflections/raytracing etc.
Also Fluids has been upgraded. Now you can make realistic boat wakes and oceans etc really easily.
but the vector renderer alone is worth making the upgrade.
