    Hey guys,

I am about to go overseas soon and I want to buy and ipod for my travels....I got a firewire drive at home full of mp3s and I just want to dump em on a ipod and go traveling for two months....

now someone said that ipods crash every now and then, meaning you have to go back to your PC/mac and re upload the music. I don't want to be stuck some where with out my music... can anyone confirm this happening

I thought it was as easy as copying my mp3 folder to the ipod aswell but its not, i wanted to keep the folder structure that i created on my hardrive but ipod doesnt work that way, you have to have every track labeled by artists and album and genre etc. which to be honest is a pain in the ass. having to use the cddb to get track tags that are sometimes wrong, and if the cddb doesnt have it you have to type all the tracks out yourself. I'm not one of those people who gets a kick out of being super organised. Its a drag to me.
I have my 30gig a month now an my songs are still not appearing the way i'd like them to, when i scroll through my artists i get about 10 versions of boards of canada, and groovrider and dos scott etc etc. Its a mess.

But mine has crashed but i've never lost any music cause of it. If i was you i'd get a minidisc
