Thinking of buying one of them. Similar prices, similar specs (ish). The X23 is a little lighter but/because the drives are external. Ibook is attractive, but I'm a pc user, thus I've got all the software I need, and I can do my own support if anything goes wrong...
Looking for a push in the right direction!

I really dont know anything about the thinkpad but I have a 12" ibook, its great, but I dont really do much work on it, I tend to use it to check NT while I watch tv!
I run osx on it but its pretty sluggish, I'd look at a g4, more$$$ but maybe pick up a second hand one.

Thanx Rasko. Budget is a consideration, though. Was looking at g4s, but decided to try and balance up on the price vs processing power....

buy the Thinkpad if you're a pc user - buying the same software, only mac-compatible is twice the price of your machine.
I've been considering the same thing, but changed my mind.

besides, 12" is frikkin tiny, doesn't the TP come with at least 14"?

i would say thinkpad. i like macs, i don't like ibooks, but i like macs.
i've been a loyal ibm thinkpad user for a years and never had a problem with them. generaly, they are fast and light....plus, nothing beats the ominous look of a jet black, minimal looking laptop.
i've got a 600x right now...and it out preforms most dell machines, and it's only a 500 with 256ram.
:)
it's a great box - of course, i run linux on it...
