I'm looking to upgrade my system I use for video editing. software Adobe After Effects & Primer.
I would like to get either a G4 (dual processor) or a DELL work station ( dual processor) but I'm not sure what would be better for After Effects I hear so much about the P4 chips not being able to process at full speed. but at the same time I hear that PCs are now faster then MACs. Dell has a new computer out the 360 workstation w/ 800 mhz bus speed. but no Dual processors? can someone give me some technical help? I mean will after effects even use both processors on a PC or will the Bios need to be upgraded?

firstly, either use final cut or Avid Xpress for your editing. From experience, these are both infintely superior.
2ndly, for after effects, i have found that it is slightly faster on pc. the dual processor pc here at work, as far as i can tell through tracking cpu usage, uses both processors. For after effects, it comes down to personal preference...but i like editing on mac MUCH MUCH MUCH better than on pc.
