I started on an internal web application about 6 months ago and tried to get the company to look into creating it in the newest technologies. They told me that they didn't want to and have now changed their minds.

Can anyone point me in the right direction, I've been a bit out of the loop so I'm not sure I know what would be most ideal right now. It's fairly intensive and includes billing modules, communication forms, daily form updates from many jobs all over the country etc. It will run on SQLServer and they won't go with PHP.

I was thinking asp.net, xml, js, and maybe xhtml/css. What does everyone here think?

Any good recommendations for books? I was trying to locate something that would help with this specific project.

Also, I can't find any decent books out on xhtml/css and don't know much about it, nor how to do it right.

Thanks for the help, I really appreciate it.

i think you're on the right track. for an introduction into asp.net look here:

    http://www.w3schools.com/aspnet/…

for a good professional reference for asp.net or SQL Server, look at the wrox press series.

there are a plethora of resources for the other technologies you are considering, all over the net, so i'll leave those up to you.
