When your computer is starting to feel a little down, and sluggish, how do you fix it?
Is there a way to clean files (kind of like a defrag on the pc)?
I would like to do it with out buying a program. But if I have to I will.
The other option was to reformat it. But that is my last option at this point.

i run os 9 still. and when mine is sluggish, i dump the prefferences and extensions i dont need and reinstall my software. it takes a few hours

I use Disc warrior. It's a Disc repair and de-frag proram designed for mac!! Does a good job!!...takes about 20 min!!

You should definitely start by looking at Norton Utilties and possibly Tech Tool Pro. Combined with Apple's own Disk First Aid utility (it comes with your OS...I'm assuming your running OS 9), these two programs are pretty good at diagnosing and fixing a lot of problems. Make sure you boot from the CD though, booting up like you normally would will not allow some repairs to made.

there is none but diskwarrior
norton is OK
but ALL pale compared to diskwarrior for the mac
