Is it possible, and if so how much of a pain in the ass is it, to share files across a network between pcs and macs? I have a linksys router, that I'm trying to do this with... anyone have experience with this.

if you use OS 10.2 you just goto the Go menu in the finder and then connect to server...
as long as the pc is on the same sub-network it will show up...

and just turn on 'Windows File Sharing' on MacOSX 10.2 to have the PC see the Mac... no extra software needed.

is it possible to connect a pc to your mac, to use it as a rendermachine for 3d apps. Basicly i want to work in os x & use the power of a cheap pc to render...

networking rendering? theoretically possible, but you need software that supports it installed on each and every machine involved...

my 3d lecturer always told us its better to doa few hundred frames/whatever on each machine, then sow it all together in finalcut/premiere/whatever.
(rather than network rendering.)
