i am trying to work out a web and print quote for a client. Part of the request is an 8pp brochure (a4 portrait) - what would you quote for the design/layout/typesetting? i want to get an idea what i need to allocate for this part.
Cheers

depends on what you're getting from the client, whether they've put any thought into it or if you need to spend time thinking about content layout.

Quoting is all about rate vs time.
Actually...its initally about that, then you just make up a price you think the client will be happy to pay..lame i know.Try and work out how long it will take..add in some time for meetings, plus also for them if they are dicking around in supplying copy. Multiply by your day rate and you will get a ball park figure. As I have never done a project like that I can't help you with timings.

Charge about £2700... or not.

are you in charge of specifying paper and a printer? is it a 4 color job? is so i would factor all that time in the cost...

factor in time aswell to manage the print process...you wont be able to just dump your files and run off to sun your behind on a beach.

but dont price yourself out of the market, an 8pp A4 isn't really a big job, unless they have a crazy amount of copy and images, you're probably looking at between 3-5 days including some revisions and artwork.
