there is no doubt about it that this site was inspired by limmy's piece.
i bought the book new masters of flash 2002 annual and thought that his piece was beautiful.
the code there is freely available on the cd that accompanies the book and i modified it slightly to take away the masking effect so that it would not be a complete ripoff of what is a really cool effect.
as far as the comments to putting it in a box i think if you look @ the other stuff i have made most of it appears so?
if u want a credit for the original piece of code limmy drop me a mail.
your work is superb, no doubt about it and your idea was very original.
if you feel that this is not enough i will take the menu off and replace it.
i think i am guilty of looking at what you did, and interpreting it differently.
no offence meant big man...
we scots are well known for being pioneers in any field, which you no doubt are.
so please forgive me for looking at your work and being inspired.

Well, i can see a similarity. But limmy's is a device to convey a piece of prose, and the other is navigation. I think that makes them quite different.
Lots of people have used masks to reveal words or navigation. I expect i can find another use of said effect on Born Magazine somewhere.

i look @ it as seeing his menu differently...
i don't think i have totally plagarised his idea, and i hope it is not seen as this..
i would hope it is seen as adding to something that i liked a lot...
surely we all look at things and say that is so feckin cool....what would happen if you did this?
the idea behind limmy's nav is simple but absolutely brilliant
i looked at it and thought what a great way to show a portfolio...
let ppl have to explore all of the time without your usual there it is and click kinda thing...
hopefully limmy is cool with this and if he wants a credit he is more than welcome..

If Limmy puts his work into a book and it's freely available then don't moan about people using it.

i think the guy has balls that clank for creating an account on NT just to post in the pv-an about the sites in question and defend himslef in this discussion.
is it a rip. not really. i've seen much worse where everything is copied, text deleted, and reposted as their own work. this was just inspired by an earlier work and he modified it to make it his own.
