Do you guys remember the first rap song you ever heard? For me it was "Rapper's Delight" by The Sugar Hill Gang from back when I had flybacks and rollerskates. That was like 1000 yrs ago. Damn

think it was
'the message'or rappers delight...or somethng like that..
all i can remember is that it was the early 80s, and my bro turtle bought it in Spain of all places..hell...we thought it was the craziest coolest thing we'd ever heard...
didn't really hear or listen to rap again for a while till i heard run DMC do 'walk this way'...
and shortly after that, i heard what i still consider one of the all time best...
don't even have to name it..1989 the number another summer (get down)
Sound of the funky drummer
Music hittin' your heart cause I know you got sould
(Brothers and sisters, hey)
Listen if you're missin' y'all
Swingin' while I'm singin'
Givin' whatcha gettin'
Knowin' what I know
While the Black bands sweatin'
And the rhythm rhymes rollin'

There was this Mr.T rap I memorized when I was in 6th grade. I used to entertain my friends with it.
The lyrics I remember are:
"I puts my feets in the creek with no shoes on." .. um .. "I like shaving my head, until it shines.." ... there was something about picking flowers... hehe, kind of silly-assed.. anyone remember that?

'The Breaks' - Kurtis Blow
or
'The Message' - Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five
But then along came the Beastie Boys... which in turn some how lead to Silver Bullet (20 Seconds to Comply) and from there into the realms of old skool british hip hop - Hijack, Demon Boyz, Killa Instinct, Hard Noise, Son Of Noise, Tha Brotherhood and so on...
- jslr0
Yep - for me it was 'The Message'...
props to b34r for bringing back the memories of old skool british hip-hop. At the time, it seemed like I was the only kid that used to listen to that kinda sterling stuff. Add to the list: Gunshot, Bush Killa, Kobalt 60... and how could we forget the Cookie Crew...?!! (and so on... :)

the first rap song i heard i was 3 years old, a tight little diddy called "cat in the hat" by a man named Theodor Seuss Geise, but you also know him by his aka, Dr. Seuss... he was kicking that shi-ot out waaaay when Dre and Grandmaster flash were just suckers on they mammas teet... that shit changed my life forever...!

Jslr,
Do you still have any of that old stuff?!- I have a Gunshot album somewhere... and Hijack on MP3 (but I'll have to really look for that one!)...
I'd kill for Original Guidance by the Demon Boyz...
- jslr0
mmmm. I'll have to look. Got some kobalt 60 vinyl somewhere, but my vinyl collection hasn't been touched since I started on mp3s...
Most of the other stuff was cadged from by best friend's older (DJ) brother... I'd jam round his house and soak up the sounds then go back home and wish I had a brother that was so well hooked up with music... those were the days!
Seriously though, if I find anything, I'll get back to you.

for me it was definitely The Sugar Hill Gang.
I don't remember the song titles.
I also remember the Mr T rap album. Wasn't there a christmas song on it? Yo ho ho fool!
and remember those early urban street movies like 'Rappin' and 'Breakdancing'? It reminds me of running from tha police.
