Following from the post below...
Heres the problem - i play guitar, drums, piano etc etc.. Trying to find a decent 8 in don't care what out box for my mac is a fuking nightmare (firewire would be preferable for use when i get my new tibook)! why don't they make a decent 8in 2out with preamps for half the price of something like the motu 896 - its really pissing me off i can't afford €1200 for that kit - any other sugggestions? need at least 8 in when got my band here (at least 5 drum mics, guitar, vocals, bass,or else other guitars and keys/piano instead of drums (depends on whats being played..) don't like all these shitting software synths - i'm an analog man at heart..
sorry i digress.. anyone got any suggestions - need a way to get all my mics into seperate tracks in logic.. i've been looking at a AD converter and then ADAT into pc -anyone else tried this?

i'll move this to an audio board perhaps..

I use a Behringer mixer into an M-Audio soundcard. Pretty affordable and works rather well. The mixer has built in mic preamps, but I don't recommend them. You'll want a better pre if you go this route.

Which m-audio card? - i've checked them all out and none really fit apart from the delta1010
the problem is cheaply recording 8 or so seperate tracks simultaneous into logic.. i'll keep searching..

This is probably not what you're looking for...I'm just learning about this stuff but what about something like the Ozone MIDI Workstation. It has a pre-amp.

You can get the 1010 bundled with Ableton Live for 600 here:

That would probably be a really good setup. But you've already got Logic so you probably don't need all that. Did you check out the 1010LT? I'm not sure what the price is but it should be a bit less.
